Inspiration

We are blessed. Inspiration for our work is found walking out of the house, picking the crops, brought to us by the dogs, hatched by the chickens, growing on the paths, found in the deer's footprints, and revealed in the patterns of the butterfly's wings. We can smell the inspriation in the morning air and see it through the rays of the sun knifing through the trees, spotlighting woodchips that fight a never ending, battle with the weeds and critters that also call The Leadership Ranch home. One can't help but be inspired by a child's fascinating discovery of their own possibiltiy; by a student finding the evidence of lessons learned in the classroom; and by a group's realization of their own, unpredictable power, because the day's results were unpredictable before they arrived. Life is good at The Leadership Ranch.

As inspiring as this place is, we also find inspiration in our staff, the people who contribute their talents to our work and in the research done by experts in the field of human development understanding and excellence. Two of these sources are Daniel Goleman's work with Emotional Intelligence, and Edward Deci's contributions to Self Determination Theory, "Why We Do What We Do." We will continue to include other sources of inspiration as the days continue.
